Brian Lahiff
Director of Infrastructure
Brian Lahiff is a highly accomplished Director of Infrastructure and Chartered Engineer, with over two decades of experience delivering complex, high-value infrastructure projects across healthcare, education, residential and industrial sectors. With a strong academic foundation and a meticulous, safety-first approach, Brian has built a reputation for excellence in infrastructure planning, health & safety leadership and regulatory compliance.
Brian holds two Postgraduate Diplomas from Trinity College Dublin – one in Health and Safety in Construction (2008) and another in Project Management (2010), both awarded with distinction. This dual expertise gives Brian a uniquely well-rounded perspective on the challenges and responsibilities involved in managing modern infrastructure projects, from both a technical and procedural standpoint.
A recognised authority in Construction Health & Safety, Brian is highly conversant with all current legislation, including the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (Construction) Regulations 2013. His in-depth knowledge enables him to navigate the complexities of project risk, contractor co-ordination, and compliance requirements with precision and confidence. As Project Supervisor Design Process (PSDP), Brian has led safety co-ordination and compliance across a wide portfolio of projects, including healthcare facilities, industrial developments, educational campuses and large-scale residential schemes – each with varying degrees of technical and operational complexity.
As Director of Infrastructure, Brian is responsible for the day-to-day oversight and strategic direction of all PSDP projects within the practice. He ensures that safety is embedded at every stage of the design and construction process, working in close collaboration with clients, consultants, and design teams to meet statutory obligations and deliver safe, efficient and future-proofed infrastructure solutions. His leadership is instrumental in guiding internal teams and external stakeholders through often complex regulatory frameworks while maintaining momentum on project delivery.
Brian is also a skilled trainer and educator, having delivered numerous workshops and training sessions to clients and design professionals on their responsibilities under construction safety legislation. His ability to translate complex regulatory language into practical guidance has helped many organisations achieve and maintain compliance while fostering a strong safety culture within project teams.
His thought leadership in the field was further recognised when he presented at the IOSH Healthcare Conference in 2011, where he delivered insights on “Maintenance Management Systems,” highlighting the importance of planning for operational safety and longevity from the earliest design phases.
Brian’s leadership style is defined by clarity, diligence, and collaboration. He brings a calm, methodical approach to problem-solving and is respected for his ability to engage constructively with all stakeholders – from public sector clients and private developers to multi-disciplinary teams and regulatory authorities.
In his role as Director of Infrastructure, Brian continues to drive best practices in safety, sustainability and operational performance, ensuring that every project meets the highest standards of quality, compliance and long-term viability. His commitment to creating resilient, user-focused infrastructure solutions makes him a vital contributor to the success of Pivotal International and the broader built environment.
